Pledge Reflects Sorace’s Commitment to Fight for Every Block
Today, Danene Sorace announced she has signed on to the Lancaster Stands Up No Backroom Deals Pledge. The pledge, available here, reflects Sorace’s commitment to fight for every block of Lancaster City, and to use every tool available to secure affordable housing.
Part of Sorace’s commitment includes the most significant investment in affordable housing in 50 years, to be completed at the former hospital site on College Ave. This project, along with maximizing use of city tools like the Landbank and Redevelopment Authority for the development of affordable housing, will continue to grow the supply of safe, accessible, affordable housing in Lancaster.
“I am proud to sign the No Back Room Deals Pledge” said Sorace. “Profit should never be put ahead of our citizens’ needs.”
Sorace, 48, was first elected Mayor of the City of Lancaster in 2017. She previously served on Lancaster City Council where she chaired the Finance Committee. Before becoming Mayor, she worked in the non-profit sector to advance public health, education, and sustainability.
